Mineral Area College is a two year public comprehensive community college located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of eastern Missouri, in a rapidly growing region 40 miles south of St. Louis.
Mineral Area College (MAC) will provide online course instruction to the first and second years of higher education for students who expect to obtain an Associates of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Criminal Justice. This will also apply to those students who achieve this degree and have the desire and ability to transfer to a four-year institution.
MAC will offer courses online using the web site www.mineralarea.edu as the host and primary entry method of course instruction. MAC has an "open door" admissions policy and as such, all students are subject to admission standards and enrollment requirements for accredited courses.
Officers who have completed POST-approved academy instruction may apply for credit for courses they have taken in their prospective academies. It is currently understood that POST-approved academies in the various states use uniform instruction objectives and practical demonstration of ability. Certified and commissioned officers (police, deputies) may submit their graded documents from the academy of instruction to MAC for consideration of course accreditation. This will be applied to their required course of instruction in the two year degree plan.
Currently, MAC offers tuition at: $118 per credit hour. Therefore, a 3 credit hour course would cost $354. Books can be purchased online, retail, or rented online when offered with certain classes. The last class taken at MAC will be CRJ230. Criminal Justice Career Preparation (CRJ230) requires a three-day visit to the campus for comprehensive testing and evaluation or it must be proctored at a local community college or university as arranged.
